Due to COVID, I offer Online Therapy and do not offer therapy in the office. Online Therapy can be conducted via computer, tablet, or phone. Online Therapy is also referred to as telemental health, telebehavioral health, teletherapy, telepsychology, video therapy, distance counseling, etc.
Online Therapy has been with us for several years, and its popularity has increased significantly due to COVID. There is much evidence to support the clinical effectiveness of Online Therapy. Many people prefer the convenience of Online Therapy, as it provides greater privacy and allows them to have therapy in the comfort of their own homes.
When meeting with clients via Online Therapy, I adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) Privacy Rule (www.hhs.gov/hipaa/index.html). I completed 24 hours of training in TeleMental Health and received a TeleMental Health and Digital Ethics Certificate from the Zur Institute.
